One of the hottest topics? Funding—or, more specifically, the lack thereof. Did you know California’s only spending 66 cents per person on the performing arts? Yeah, that’s peanuts compared to other states. And here’s the kicker: for every 100 theater jobs, there are 150 more that pop up downstream.
But here’s the big aha moment: the theater industry needs a makeover. It’s time to flip the script from “we’re broke” to “we’re a powerhouse for the economy, fueling spending and bringing in those tourists!”
